As a kid I loved listening to Lee Ritenour. I used to have a couple of radio programs in Australia (I was barely 18) and the technical people at the Radio Station used to tell me that his music was overproduced, and that they preferred people who could reproduce their music live just as it was in a recording.
Obviously they had not seen these guys live.
Was it overproduced? Perhaps, but as far as I can rememeber, the same songs sound almost as good as they play in front of a huge audience (and probably better as they are a bit more relaxed).
