Greenwich Village is a neighborhood situated on the West Side of Lower Manhattan, New York City.
Known by locals as “The Village”, it has been the Bohemian capital of America. For very much the same reason, it has also been the place where some of the greatest Jazz musicians developed their craft over the decades.
It is also a place of learning and both the New York University and the New School are located there.
This Sunday´s Concert is dedicated to one of today´s more prolific artists.
This is Robert Glassper with his Trio playing live at the Village Vanguard in 2012.
This painting marks a departure, together with IT NEVER ENTERED MY MIND (also from 2017), in structure and color palette. I am constantly exploring and looking for the next area of development.
Many people have never heard of the Yellowjackets, which is a pity.
They have been around for many decades now. Born in the Jazz fusion craze of the early 70´s, they had some big hits in the 1980´s and then again at the end of the 90´s.
Here they are playing live, at Jackarta´s wonderful Java Jazz Festival and showing that, just like great wine, these guys get even better with time.
Naples (Florida) has been, over the last few years, something like a home away from home to me.
I have found dear friends, a thriving artistic and cultural space, a place where to rest and get (really far) away from my every day problems, and an Artist´s Association (The NAPLES ARTS ASSOCIATION / http://www.naplesart.org) which is strong, vibrant, and a real life force of a beautiful town.
So when I was sitting in a quiet Washington DC Hotel, and I saw how Hurricane Irma was tearing through Naples and surrounding areas, I could not do anything else but just get on the first available plane back to Florida and use the time I had -before my own flight home would take off from Miami after 3 reschedules- to see if I could help my friends.
I was afraid of what I would find.
What I found was a town in turmoil, shaken and hurt, but still on its own two strong feet.
It wasn´t easy. Little electricity, no drinking water, flooded houses, people without homes, no credit cards (no electricity), almost no cellphone signal, fallen tres everywhere, and 2 hour long cues to get some gas.
But in just three days everything was visibly getting better. People were trying to get things going. It was during these few days (just 3 days after Irma) that I shot these videos. What was very striking was the huge number of tress which had fallen (clearly in their thousands).
I know from my friends that things are still moving slowly. But they are getting better, and like any strong community it will be, in time, even more successful than before.
My love and good wishes to a wonderful town. Hats off to Naples!
An honor and a pleasure to be there. Great Exhibition space, wonderful art program that has been going on for more than 16 years and with District Court Judge Peter J. Messitte at its helm.
The exhibition is composed of 46 paintings of different sizes, painted in the last 8 years. It began on August 5th and will end on October 20th.
The exhibition ends Friday October . I am donating 10% of everything produced from the sale of my works to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund.

Come with me for a visit to Washington DC on a very nice Summer afternoon.
We´ll visit the National Gallery East Building, then the West Building with all its wonderful abstracts, and the National Gallery´s Sculpture Garden.
Finally, we will have a short drive around Washington DC and then we will do a short visit to the St. John Paul II National Shrine, which is within the Campus of the Catholic University of America (sister university to my Catholic University of Argentina).
